CAMPING, KAYAKING & SAILING on the Indian River Lagoon. We will paddle/sail to an island in the beautiful Indian River Lagoon and set camp. From there, we will make various exploratory trips to other islands, the mangrove marsh trails, and the grassflats. The refuge features grassflats with abundant marine life, mangrove forest, and the namesake rookery island. We will make a stop on Paul's Island for a rest and further exploration on foot. Explore this jewel tucked away amidst the bustling community of Palm Bay. We will travel a series of naturalized canals into the sanctuary. Turkey Creek is a winding water trail canopied by palms and oaks draped with grape vines.We will make a stop at the sanctuary's boardwalk for a stretch and a nice lunch. The sanctuary also has a small museum and gift shop at the top of the boardwalk. Possible sightings of manatee, turtles, and perhaps an alligator!
